If any door is opened whilst the engine is running, the hazard lights will immediately start flashing. This is useful to warn other motorists that you are stationary and likely to be moving around the car. It is also useful when you have children in the car, if the door is slightly ajar, the hazard light signal on the dashboard will bring this to your attention.
